  •  QTL Experiment in Brief
Animals:The base population was formed by crossing seven partially inbred lines of White Plymouth Rock chickens. A total of 874 F2 offspring comprising 75 full-sib families were used for QTL analysis.
     Breeds associated:
    n/a
Design:The phenotypic measures included body weight at 56 days of age an weight of abdominal fa, breast muscle, lung, shank, bursa, and spleen at 70 days of age. Plasma concentrations of glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, insulin, glucagon, and IGF-1 were
Analysis:ANOVA was performed using Minitab to identify factores affecting phenotypic variation. Significant effects of family and sex wree observed, and these were therefore included in the model for QTL analysis.
