Subject: Recording of the May meeting of nf-core #Animal-Genomics:
        James Reecy
Date: Thu, 22 May 2025 08:51:10 -0500
Dear all,

In case someone is interested here is the recording of the May session of
the nf-core animal genomics nf-core interest group:

https://youtu.be/zRxtgzljxt0

During this talk, Dr. James Reecy from Iowa State University discussed his
work on developing community resources to support livestock genomics
research. He highlighted tools such as the Animal QTL Database (QTLdb) and
the Vertebrate Trait Ontology, which aim to standardize trait definitions
and genomic annotations across species. Dr. Reecy emphasized the importance
of collaborative efforts and data interoperability in accelerating
discoveries in animal and comparative genomics. He also discussed how AI
tools can be leveraged to accelerate and semi-automate the curation of
these databases and facilitate the discovery process from the data.

Best wishes,

Jose Espinosa-Carrasco

The nf-core #animal-genomics group is an open group for anyone interested
in using/developing nf-core tools tailored for animal genomics. It provides
a collaborative space to share expertise, troubleshoot, and stay updated
with the latest developments. For more information about it please watch
this nf-core bytesize talk introducing the group:

Our primary communication platform is Slack. We warmly invite you to become
part of the conversation and its vibrant community by joining the nf-core
Slack (https://nf-co.re/join/slack) and the #animal-genomics channel.
