Subject: Postdoctoral Position in Complex Trait and Disease Analysis
Date: Thu, 25 Jun 2026 10:44:54 -0500
We are seeking outstanding candidates for a postdoctoral position in complex
trait and disease analysis in the Comparative Genetics and Orthopaedic
Research Laboratory, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Wisconsin-
Madison.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development and application
of computational models for joint multi-ancestry analyses of orthopaedic
diseases, such as anterior cruciate ligament ACL rupture, across dog breeds.
The project focuses on developing robust multi-ancestry polygenic risk
prediction models in companion animals primarily dogs, with additional
opportunities in comparative genetics dog-human studies and artificial
intelligence/computer vision applications for veterinary diagnostic imaging.
Position Requirements
- Ph.D. in Quantitative Genetics, Animal Science, Bioinformatics,
Computational Biology, or a closely related field.
- Strong experience with Bayesian regression methods and genomic analyses
using SNP marker data.
- Interest in developing expertise in Bayesian mixture models and advanced
statistical genetics methodologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with veterinary clinician-scientists and
quantitative genetics researchers at UW-Madison.
- Knowledge of quantitative genetics, bioinformatics, predictive modeling,
machine learning/deep learning algorithms, and large-scale human biobank
resources - e.g., UK Biobank, All of Us - is essential.
